Bluewater Lagoon family fun

Cool off at the Bluewater Lagoon, in the heart of Mackay’s city centre.

The family-friendly leisure facility has three-tiered lagoons in a stinger-free environment, overlooking the Pioneer River.

Spend the day with the kids and take a picnic, grab a snack at the Bluewater Lagoon Cafe or enjoy a barbecue lunch and go for a dip in the lagoons, which are the size of three 50 metre pools.

Clermont and the Old Town

Clermont is an old mining town in the Mackay region, filled with history from Australia’s pioneering days.

Following the discovery of gold at Nelson’s Gully in 1861, 1862 saw the first camps of prospectors line the gentle sloping banks of Hood’s Lagoon.

Within the year a small town had sprung up, with a general store and around 30 diggings, hopefuls waiting for their big score, waiting to strike rich off the gold.
